Seismic data processing on Pre-stack time migration / Pre-stack depth migration (cluster solution)

Sugon cluster system is composed of the computing unit, network unit, storage unit and the assistant management unit.

The computing unit adopts Sugon TC3600/TC4600 blade server and has a series of characteristics of high computing density, low requirements for the building environment, low power consumption, simple management, and high reliability. Meanwhile, the management and monitoring function is highly integrated in Sugon blade server. Through a unified interface, all the blade resources can be monitored, including the Chassis power, fun, computing blade, backboard and the switch. The management system has integrated today’s two major monitoring technology, i.e. IPMI and KVM (Over IP), truly put into effect the monitoring & control integration.

The network unit is designed based on two principles of performance and reliability. It adopts two sets of network and the extensible allowance considered in the configuration of the two sets of network so that the system can be extended. The network plan design gives full consideration to the performance parameter of the computing node, storage node and the network switch, to ensure the system is stable and furthermore make full use of all the equipments.

Oil exploration seismic data processing is both data-intensive and computing-intensive, and requires strong computing and I/O processing power. This is put into consideration in the design of the storage unit. If the large-scale cluster computing nodes are not provided with high-speed data transmission performance, the concurrent computation efficiency of the nodes will be very limited, and cause the CPU utilization to be only 10%~50%. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of seismic prospecting high-tech, there comes up more and more large data body three-dimensional and even four-dimensional projects, and the data size is growing, and the single data file being processed is getting bigger too (sometimes the original joint data size can reach over 10 TB). Therefore, the storage system needs to manage large space and data content. This requires very easy maintenance methods for the storage system, and providing rich but easy-operation data management function, and under normal conditions needing no professionals for operation and maintenance. The storage system must also be highly reliable, and be able to integrate various data protection and business continuity programs. Therefore, Sugon uses high-performance Parastor Distributed Storage System and takes Ten-Gigabit network as computing nodes to provide data access.
