Project Requirements

The project aims to meet frontier research needs at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University, providing computational simulation for emerging life-science disciplines;

Meet storage, processing, and computing needs of the hospital’s Clinical Trials and Research Center (CTRC) for clinical diagnosis and treatment information, omics data (whole genome, exome, RNA, and proteome) and high-resolution imaging data (about 10,000 people per year);

Meet processing and analysis needs of the hospital’s monogenic neurological-disease diagnosis center for pathogenic-mutation and drug-metabolism gene DNA testing data from about 3,000 patients per year;

Meet the National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases’ need to analyze large-scale multimodal medical imaging data, build an intelligent assisted-diagnosis system based on medical data, and support related deep-learning algorithm development, platform construction, and applications;

Meet future needs for data collection, upload, sharing, and management in nationwide or regional projects.

Solution

Based on user needs and Sugon’s years of technical accumulation in life sciences, Sugon provided a comprehensive HPC cluster for high-throughput genomics data processing and intelligent pathological image recognition, including a compute platform for sequence alignment and assembly, a compute platform for medical image processing, massive storage and backup for sequencing and imaging data, a high-speed network, bioinformatics applications and tools, an omics big-data analysis workflow system, and a gene-locus database and visualization platform. Sugon security products also provide all-round protection for the compute cluster to meet hospital security-grade requirements.
