Project Overview

CCTV International Network Co., Ltd. operates CCTV.com (formerly CCTV International Network). Centered on video, CCTV International integrates quality program resources from China Central Television and other domestic and overseas media, providing live, relay, on-demand, download, and audiovisual search services. It is currently the strongest internet and mobile audiovisual program distributor in the Chinese mainland, with the largest video-program storage, the strongest collection and distribution capacity, the largest number of legitimate users, and the largest market share. Users cover more than 150 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, and Germany.

As business has grown rapidly, program resources in the video database have become richer, and requirements for the performance, capacity, security, and stability of the video-production cloud infrastructure have risen. To further implement central requirements on integrating traditional and new media and to continue expanding CCTV’s reach and influence in new media, the video-production cloud infrastructure now needs expansion.

Solution Overview

This expansion of foundation storage uses ParaStor300 distributed storage. After expansion it meets production needs for the next year and a half; it adds 3 PB of storage, supports 2 GBps of business traffic, 84,000 IOPS (with data-block size of 2 MB or larger), and 500 concurrent online access connections.

Strong compatibility: ParaStor is fully compatible with the HP DL 380G9 hardware platform provided by the customer for this project, and the system runs stably and reliably. ParaStor supports servers from HP, DELL, LENOVO, H3C, Inspur, Huawei, and others.

Massive capacity, elastic expansion: ParaStor distributed cloud storage can scale to EB-class capacity. A media-asset system based on ParaStor scale-out storage can reach up to 80% raw disk utilization.

Outstanding performance, linear growth: Sugon ParaStor distributed cloud storage uses an all-IP architecture and supports 10GE/40GE/Infiniband networking. In tests with Gehua Cable media-asset editing software, single-node bandwidth can reach 1,200 MB/s.

Secure and reliable, fast repair: ParaStor distributed cloud storage uses a fully redundant design with no single point or single-link failure, ensuring reliability.

Unified management, simple operations: ParaStor distributed cloud storage provides unified web management with fine-grained real-time monitoring of CPU, memory, and other cluster resources, plus automatic alerting.
