Chongqing Cable Television Network Co., Ltd. (“Chongqing Cable”) aims, through NGB (Next Generation Broadcasting) construction, to greatly raise user access bandwidth, build a 20–100 Mbps ultra-broadband network, and, on a massive cloud-storage architecture, use in-house content, third-party partnerships, internet content caching, and UGC (user-generated content) and other multimedia audio and video to give users a high-definition, smooth multi-screen video experience on the intranet, achieve a generational upgrade of network and services, reach the goal of multi-service construction at low cost, and fully realize three-network convergence of telecom, broadcasting, and the internet. The system has three main subsystems—cloud storage, multi-screen interaction, and cloud media—with the overall architecture shown below:

Cloud storage must store massive content for the business and have a complete disaster-recovery mechanism to keep service uninterrupted. The multi-screen interaction subsystem connects existing live, on-demand, internet content cache, content management, and BOSS systems with newly built cloud media, cloud broadband, cloud storage, and other vertical systems, and provides unified management of multi-screen users, content, sessions, and business data. It supports query, processing, and feedback of interactive data needed for multi-screen services—content, user, product, and session information—and presents multi-screen services through portals, clients, and other forms. The cloud media subsystem includes network personal video recording, cloud space, internet content caching (cloud broadband), network disks, and other business systems.

After in-depth discussion with the customer, Sugon provided highly scalable and reliable cloud-service platform solutions for all three subsystems. To keep the system running without interruption, key network-device components are designed with dual backup. The system provides failover of key devices; physical links between key network devices use dual redundant connections and work in load-balancing or active-active mode. Key hosts can use dual NICs to raise reliability. Full redundancy brings system reliability to 99.99%.
