Jiangsu Meteorological Information Center

Strategic signing: Sugon and the Jiangsu Meteorological Bureau jointly advance “smart meteorology”

A delegation led by 唐红昇, Director of the Jiangsu Meteorological Information Center, and company representatives including 刘华, Vice President of Sugon Nanjing Research Institute, attended and witnessed the strategic signing. Cooperation between Sugon Nanjing Research Institute and the Jiangsu Meteorological Information Center marks a new stage in Sugon’s long-standing partnership with Jiangsu meteorology. The two sides will move beyond the traditional client–vendor model, blending and exchanging roles on projects, using projects to drive smart-meteorology development, and forming a deeper and broader partnership.

肖万来, R&D General Manager of Sugon Nanjing Research Institute, said in his remarks that for many years Sugon has consistently and strongly supported the development of meteorology, providing cloud platforms, meteorological big-data sharing and exchange, and other services to the National Meteorological Information Center and meteorological information centers of provinces, cities and districts, and building sound cooperative relationships. 唐红昇 said he hoped Sugon would fully integrate high-quality resources such as the Institute of Computing Technology and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and promote healthy, rapid development of Jiangsu’s “smart meteorology” through industry–university–research collaborative innovation. At the same time, the Jiangsu Meteorological Information Center will provide Sugon with high-quality, high-efficiency meteorological information-resource support for the smart-city meteorological informatization service segment.

Complementary strengths, opening a new chapter of all-round cooperation

Under the agreement, the two sides will cooperate on a meteorological big-data application and innovation platform, a smart-meteorology computing center, an AI platform, high-performance meteorological applications, and a professional talent system. Designated staff will form a joint working group responsible for implementing and advancing the agreement and for day-to-day communication. Together they will build a nationally influential demonstration center for meteorological big-data analysis and application, and related industry meteorological innovation bases. In the course of cooperation, they will package jointly obtained research results into replicable, scalable business systems or products and promote them to meteorological departments nationwide and related industries.

The strategic cooperation has a five-year term. During that period the two sides will combine their respective resource and technology strengths, complement each other and form a joint force, to substantially raise the level of smart-meteorology applications. Closer cooperation will help raise smart-meteorology capability in Jiangsu and nationwide, enable multi-dimensional joint development, and open a new chapter in the partnership between Sugon and the Jiangsu Meteorological Information Center.
