Chongqing Technology and Business University cloud-desktop resource center

Background

After years of development, cloud computing has begun to serve many industries, and university informatization has followed. Completing the cloud-desktop resource center at Chongqing Technology and Business University enables faculty and students to browse and use campus learning resources from computers or smartphones. The university therefore centralized servers in the cloud-desktop resource center for unified management, with a unified portal and awareness of any terminal issue at the resource center.

The university applied high design, construction, and operations standards to the resource center, aiming for a modern facility with a rational layout, complete functions, security and reliability, and sustainable development. It provides cloud-desktop and other information-system equipment with a safe, reliable operating environment that meets temperature, humidity, and cleanliness requirements, and gives staff a convenient, comfortable workplace and a secure, efficient management model.

Sugon Solution

The university adopted Sugon’s pool-level micro-module solution, based on Sugon Energy Saving’s many successful education-sector deployments and technical strengths, and on the consistent reliability and adaptability of the pool-level micro-module across application scenarios. During bidding, the university evaluated options against several requirements: first, rapid deployment, completing migration of existing desktop-cloud teaching and lab facilities while building the new resource center; second, easy expansion—cabinet demand in this phase was modest, but the design had to allow future IT hosting for colleges. The Sugon C2000 pool-level micro-module met these needs and became the best choice for the cloud-desktop resource center.

The solution’s quality had already been strictly proven in university settings. In this project the C2000 used a contained hot-aisle form: hot air after heat exchange is enclosed in the aisle, while cold air from the in-row units is supplied to the whole room. This avoids mixing of cold and hot air, and part of the cooling improves the room environment, raising air-conditioning efficiency and operator comfort and contributing to overall cooling redundancy. Most importantly, the modular design makes later expansion straightforward.
