Sugon Storage Active-Active Solution

Active-active storage so critical applications keep running when data availability is non-negotiable.

Active-Active Operating Mode

In an active-active data center, both storage arrays work at once; volumes in an active-active mirror pair can be read and written by servers simultaneously, fully using both arrays’ resources.

No Extra Software Required

Active-active storage uses virtual-volume technology: no third-party software on servers; the OS native multipathing software handles volume I/O and failover.

Support Long-Distance Expansion

Active-active storage can be deployed inside one data center or between two data centers hundreds of kilometers apart, fully ensuring business continuity.

Solution Architecture

Sugon’s active-active data-center solution consists of two storage arrays, corresponding to storage engines A and B. Volumes on engines A and B can be configured as an active-active mirror pair, with high-speed data sync in between via iSCSI or FC so data is fully consistent. Using virtual-volume technology, the two volumes in the pair form one virtual volume externally. To servers, the active-active mirror pair is the same data volume accessible via multiple paths; servers can read and write both volumes in the pair simultaneously. The two storages in the active-active mirror system are redundant; if one array fails, the other can take over business directly. Servers can access the active-active storage via FC or iSCSI as needed; the SAN for server-to-storage access is independent of the 10GbE network for data sync and they do not interfere.
