Sugon’s research HPC solution includes six architecture layers in “three horizontals and three verticals.” The “three horizontals” include the base platform, fused computing framework, and research-innovation application platform; the “three verticals” include the service portal, O&M system, and security-protection system. The base platform is the system’s skeleton, including terminal infrastructure such as immersion phase-change liquid cooling and cold-plate liquid cooling; supercomputing units such as general-purpose processors and heterogeneous accelerators; key big data storage components such as large-capacity HDDs, flash, and distributed file systems; and an ultra-high-speed interconnection system of multidimensional ultra-high-speed networks. The fused computing framework is the system’s flesh, including a hyper-converged resource-management and scheduling system that fuses MPP, SMP, in-memory, and other computing frameworks, plus development environments and base algorithm libraries for various research-computing applications. The research-innovation application platform is the system’s soul, carrying various research-computing services for high-energy physics, nanomaterials, gene sequencing, molecular dynamics, virtual observatories, and more. The “three verticals” sit at the system periphery, escorting healthy system operation.
