Pre-Stack Seismic Processing Distributed Storage Solution

Distributed storage for rapidly growing seismic volumes used in petroleum geological modeling.

Strong Scalability

Excellent scalability, supporting up to 4,096 storage nodes and EB-class storage. The storage system supports online expansion without affecting use

High Data Security

Compared with traditional disk-array RAID protection, ParaStor300’s N+M erasure coding has clear advantages and can realize node-level data-security protection

No Performance Bottleneck

Linearly scalable with no I/O bottleneck, suited to unstructured data storage; efficient storage of massive data with no performance bottleneck in analysis

Storage subsystem:To store massive seismic data, configure metadata nodes and storage nodes and build a ParaStor distributed cloud storage system. ParaStor is configured with POSIX; in large sequential-read/write scenarios such as seismic data, it is well suited to high-performance applications, with higher bandwidth, meeting customers’ unstructured-data storage and high-IOPS needs.

Compute subsystem:Seismic-data processing is an important link in oil and gas exploration and development, typically including pre-stack/post-stack time migration, pre-stack/post-stack depth migration, P-wave reflection coefficients, angle-gather stacking, and more. To meet users’ needs for high floating-point capability, strong scalability, and high system memory bandwidth in seismic processing, Sugon x86 rack servers and blade servers are used to build a seismic-data HPC subsystem for petroleum exploration.

Network subsystem:ParaStor has two networking modes: 10GbE and InfiniBand. Configure IB switches to build an InfiniBand compute network, ensuring data-transfer rates and meeting customers’ high-speed network needs. Configure 10GbE switches to build the management network in the seismic processing and interpretation system.

Seismic-data processing and interpretation subsystem:Configure a number of workstations to display seismic-processing results and interpret attributes such as strata and faults on processed seismic data, providing exploration and development personnel with materials for drilling-decision analysis.
